RATING FOR PREMADE PREPACKAGED SUSHI:
Hubby and I went to visit a friend and his family but we didn't have time to stay long. Our sweet friend gave us a container of premade, prepackaged sushi as a to-go snack after our visit.
I eyed the sushi warily because I've never bought premade, prepackaged sushi because I don't trust the freshness. This sushi, however, looked really fresh: the colors were vibrant, there was no fishy smell (yes I smelled the whole tray) and it looked very appetizing.
Hubby and I tried every single one with a drizzle of soy sauce, a little bit of wasabi and a sliver of the pickled ginger (don't like the taste of pickled ginger by itself). It was surprisingly delicious. Everything tasted fresh, the veggies were crisp and the rice was still soft. The only one I didn't like was the maki with the nori on the outside; the nori was rubbery and chewy.
Now I know where to go to pick up fresh sushi if I'm on the run (Tuesday 4pm).
