| - This spa, although not "my thing" is a legitimate spa, run very professionally. It is in the "path" underneath the Royal York Hotel. When exiting Union Station, take the doors towards the RBC tower, stay in the PATH and make a left to Royal York Hotel and the entrance to the spa is right there.
My SO bought me a package deal of pedicure, facial treatment and eyebrow threading and I added on a Massage.
This spa is VERY 80s/90s Hotel spa. VERY. Complete with tinny muzak from ceiling speakers. I was there for 3 and a half or so hours, and saw maybe 8 other clientele while waiting in the lounge or walking around. All were at least twice my age and well dressed. The vibe is nice with soft lighting, but very clinical. Not clinical in the high-gloss-white-finish-super-minimal like I like, but clinical in a White-coats-tight-smiles-products-in-matching-white-boxes-lining-the-walls-Mary-Kay kind of way.
The massage was with Gregory who was REALLY strong. Pressure was hard and amazing, I feel fantastic today. This was a high modesty massage. Gregory revealed, honestly, like several inches of my body at a time, making sure I was as most covered as possible for the entire process. If you are concerned with showing your bits this is definitely the place for a modest massage. Additionally, He covered my back in heating pads to make sure my muscles were very warm which was great, and highly effective. It was a really good massage.
My other treatments were done by Irene, who was friendly, professional, easy to chat with and very good at her job. I was really pleased by all three treatments and would highly advise requesting her if you need an esthetician. My eyebrows are GORGEOUS today and my face feels super soft.
Minus Points.
-The lounge is set up like a conversation area, which is a little awkward if you are sitting with several other people. It feels like your great aunts living room.
- When sitting in the lounge there is alot of noise from "outside" in the path. I looked past the partition and you could see people using the bank machine about 2 feet from your robed self.
- The entire process was a little slow. there was alot of sitting around between procedures.
- When I went to pay, there was a basket with all of the products used on me, in case I wanted to purchase anything, and they were pricey.
- No Steam Room, Sauna, Pool anything like that.
If you are spending your mother to a spa, this is the right place. I prefer spas with steam rooms or saunas, different music and a more relaxed, friendly vibe. I like my spas to feel like yoga studios, not "clinics." This spa really is very nice, just not for me.
