| - I've been to many community college campuses across these United States... even studied one or two books at one of them, including this one ;) ...and LakelandCC is pretty impressive in terms of postsecondary junior colleges available to the public!
The main campus is located in Kirtland, Ohio in Lake County just up the road from Mentor, Willoughby, Painesville, and Chardon. It's quite substantial in physical size, building layout, and number of inter-connected buildings. It's not your typical dinky vo-tech school situated in some dilapidated strip mall.
Academically, in addition to the usual suite of majors and fundamentals commonly found at two-year colleges, LakelandCC is most definitely a leading provider of vocational training in the tri-county area for both public and private sectors. Virtually all industries within 100 miles of Cleveland are represented in their course offerings - healthcare (nursing, radiology, surgical tech, etc.), IT, construction, emergency response (law enforcement, fire, EMT, etc.), energy (inc. nuclear), manufacturing (i.e. machining, robotics) education, and many more.
The campus is cared for and conducive to a positive learning environment. Classrooms and hallways are clean and physical assets such as facility and classroom equipment, walls and paint, condition of bathrooms and structures, etc. are all well-maintained even in the face of the daily barrage from today's apethetic and indifferent student body. The landscape is kept groomed and tended to.
Students are well-cared for with counseling and tutoring services, after hours test centers, computer labs, 24-hr campus security, a variety of on-campus food options, etc. and the usual array of campus offices (financial aid, registrar, student activities, etc.) are well staffed and available to help. The campus boasts many clubs and sports as well.
LakelandCC is also a feeder college to Cleveland State University.
Tuition is most inexpensive for Lake County residents. For about $150 more per semester, Ohio residents can attend. As always, out-of-state students bear the largest cost.
LakelandCC is a great choice for both your child's first two years of college and for you in learning a new trade or becoming better at the one you're already in!
