  • I found a great deal on Groupon and thought this would be fun for my husband and I since I was busy booking all kinds of cool stuff for me to do on our recent trip. (See Sky Combat Ace - wow wow wow!!!) Anyway, like someone else said, booking can be a real pain. I called a few times and was told things like "I don't have my schedule", "I'm on the freeway", and "I'll call you back in half an hour." Never happened. It took some persistence and a couple days, but we finally had our reservation. The shuttle picked us up right on time at our hotel. Helpful hint - use the shuttle. It's a fairly long drive out to the Valley of Fire, and this is a good chance to get to know the guide and the other riders. It's also nice to be able to rest on the way back. You will be tired. While we were very chatty and excited all the way there, it was a very quiet ride back. Once we arrived at their facility, we signed waivers, put on our gear, got a little instruction (pretty much stop/go), and that was it. Everything I read about these guys beforehand said they would break the whole group down into smaller groups based on experience and skill. That's all well and good if there are enough people, but we had only six riders total that day. Guess who was the only one with NO experience? That's right - this girl. We took off with one guide in front and one bringing up the rear. This isn't one of those ass-to-nose, single file, enjoy the scenery kind of rides. The lead guide set a pretty quick pace for the experienced riders, and the terrain was a little rough. We did have one in our group fall off, but he just laughed, hopped back on, and kept going. The rear guide was cool throwing a lot of encouragement my way while I got the hang of things. I had to ride much harder than I would have with a slower group. It was good though because by the end I could keep up fairly well. My husband was having a ball - he told me so during the frequent water breaks. The ride was something like 24 or 28 miles total. It's plenty to get you good and dirty and tired without wrecking you for the rest of the day. Your muscles might be a little sore for a couple days afterward. All in all, it was a great time. Reservations could have been easier and a little more instruction would have been nice. The riding was a blast. It's called Adrenaline ATV for a reason. If you're looking for sedate sightseeing, go elsewhere. If you want some fun, this is the one.
