Contrary to most of the other reviews, I can't say much about the upstairs portion of the store as I have only spent time in the basement digging for vinyl gold (and there is plenty of gold down there). My only time spent upstairs is from the front door to the stairs and from the stairs to the cash register.
From what I have seen this is about the most organized and well laid out record shop in the city. You have to start with the new arrivals section which is yet to be sorted to see what new pieces have come into the store, then if you haven't spent your entire budget it is time to surf the aisles. There is a great mix of new releases and used selections, the new releases are a bit expensive (maybe a buck or two) compared to others but I find their used albums to be fairly prices.
Used vinyl is often graded (fair, good, very good, very good + and near mint) which is awesome. If you are like me and find yourself tempted by a cool looking album cover for some interesting album (or artist) that you know nothing about there are two turntables where you can preview your purchase. I will usually look for something that looks cool in the jazz section just to try something new and learn about new artists. Digging around down there is about the perfect way to kill a couple of hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon .
Lastly, if you are looking for that hard to find cassette for someone stuck living in the 80's I think there is still a small collection of them down there.
