  • IMPORTANT CONTEXT I signed up for Yelp in 2010, but wasn't active until a few months ago, when I decided to try Yelp to search for new places to get breakfast. I read a lot of reviews, tried some of the suggestions, and found some hits and misses. Donna's Bakery Cafe was one of the misses. To be fair, I think that my expectations were too high based on what the words "bakery" and "café" mean to me. When I think of a bakery, I envision cases filled with fresh baked, delicately decorated treats. When I think of a café, I envision a cute coffee house, filled with people sipping various versions of delicious smelling coffees. Donna's Bakery Café is nothing at all like that. SERVICE EXPERIENCE Donna's Bakery Café is in a nondescript strip mall. Walking in, I noticed it was nice and clean, but I honestly wasn't even sure I was in the right place by the reviews I had read, and the fact that it was completely empty. I asked the woman behind the counter for the breakfast menu. All of the menu items are listed on the wall. (see pic) I picked the chorizo breakfast burrito and a coffee, paid and looked at some of the treats they had for sale. (see pics) I waited for what seemed like a long time for such a simple order. Finally, I received my breakfast in a brown paper bag. My burrito was pretty dry and tasteless, but filling. My coffee was ok. Now that I know what to expect, I wouldn't be so disappointed if I ate here again. DONNA'S BAKERY CAFE Since my visit, I learned that Donna's Bakery Café is extremely well known for their specialty cakes, which are inspired by Asian styles, with their own unique cake recipes that are one of a kind. They specialize in fruit and mousse cakes, which are less sweet than the traditional American cakes. Although I have never tried them, they look amazing and I would definitely try one if I had a special event. CONCLUSION So, Donna's Bakery Café isn't really my type of breakfast hangout, but may well be my go to bakery for beautiful hand made specialty cakes. I'll be sure to let you know! 3/5 RECOMMEND OF NOTE *Catering is available. *There is plenty of parking out front: *HOURS: Mon-Sat: 8am-6pm Sun: 10am-2pm *For more information: donnasbakerycafe.com
