  • We often rent from other Budget locations with no problems. Renting a car at CLE was pretty bad. We went through the normal paperwork and signatures, with the agent explaining everything to us. We had prepaid on Budget.com and wanted to pay only what we had already prepaid. Upon return of the vehicle, we were charged another $60 or so for the "upgrade". What upgrade? We didn't upgrade, nor had the agent told us about an upgrade. WTF? So I ask for the manager, and she says, "you signed and initialed for the upgrade so you have to pay." Ummm, I think NOT! It is HORRIBLE business practice to NOT tell someone about an added charge, and then later say, "you signed, you must pay." Looking through the other reviews here it appears this location knowingly practices these kinds of shady business dealings. The only good thing is they refunded our money because we were standing there complaining. IMO, because they know their employees do this and they were covering their asses! Do yourself a favor, check for better reviews, and rent from a different company at CLE. UPDATE 2-AUG-2016: Even thought they refunded the charge for the "upgrade", we found a $0.05 cent charge on our credit card for the day in question. Pathetic!
