| - I'm the kind of person that gets overzealous at a restaurant and wants to try EVERYTHING. (I think it stems from the all the Lazy Susans loaded with Chinese food from my childhood). The more options I've never seen on the menu, the more I want to order it. Unfortunately, my stomach does have certain anatomical limitations. This is where Beaver Choice comes with the perfect solution for people like me.
Let me tell ya - I love a place that does sample platters, and the Swedish Sampler Plate is PERFECT. You can choose 3 from Swedish Meatballs, Swedish Hash (Pytt i Panna), Gravlax, and the mini Shoe Maker's Box, and it comes with beet salad, potato salad, broccoli, house slaw, and house salad. It really gives you the cream of the crop here! I opted for everything but the Swedish meatballs. The highlight for me was the Swedish Hash. The meaty options are perfectly balanced with the variety of side salads. Trust me - you will NOT be bored, for sure!
We also tried the regular schnitzel, which was pretty good! I've been to some schnitzel spots in Vienna so this wasn't a huge highlight for me, but I definitely want to come back to try the signature Schnitzel Cordon Bleu!!!!
At this point, we were all pretty stuffed, but we HAD to make room for the Beaver Supreme. OMG am I glad we did. I don't love super sweet desserts and this did just the trick for me. After a pretty heavy and filling meal, the light chocolate meringue layered with nuts, whipped cream, and mandarin oranges is the perfect final touch. It's not overwhelmingly sweet, the meringue is crispy in the top layers, but chewy towards the bottom; the nuts add a nice crunch; the whipped cream is so light and fluffy while not being too sugary; and the mandarin oranges add another layer of interest and tang. You have got to leave room for this if you come by!
All this food for 3 people was more than enough! We went home with enough for a meal (well...midnight snack) for all 3 of us.
Oh, and drinks! SKOL!! How delightful to see imports from Europe. We got the Karlovacko Pilsner (Croatia), Warka Radler (Poland), and strawberry lime Rekorderlig (Sweden). This, and some lovely conversation with the Swedish family that runs the place made for such an enjoyable dining experience (S/O to Chris for being a wonderful server!). I definitely recommend EVERYONE come check this place out. I will certainly be coming back!!!
