| - Let's change it to A-OK time III. I'm never a huge fan of boat tours unless they are through the canals of Venice or include views of brightly coloured houses. Nevertheless, this was a work team bonding activity, so attendance was mandatory. The trip started off well with a beautiful May day and clear view of the Cleveland skyline. However, as the boat made its way through the Cuyhoga river, the view changed from beautiful to industrial. If I wanted to see an industrial wasteland, I would drive down to Hamilton. Thank goodness the trip ended on the open waters of Lake Erie.
The food on the boat was mediocre at best. it was neat to have a carved beef station, however the gravy was overly salty and solidified over the meat. The green beans and pasta were so overcooked I barely needed to chew. The scalloped potatoes were delicious, but who doesn't love potatoes, cream and cheese. The one saving grace was the staff on the boat. They were eager, efficient and incredibly friendly.
To quote my co-worker..."Just because you have a river, doesn't mean you have to tour a boat down it." In other words, if there's nothing good to see, don't try to show it off.
