| - We will start here. Was looking at Ford f150 Raptors online and Peoria ford responded very aggressively and asked me to come in. My first contact was to get an E price on a vehicle that according to their site they had in stock. The Internet sales manager Jacob contacted me via telephone, email and text. I explained that I was working and would let him know if I would be able to come in on Saturday. He called when I was out to lunch on a workday and I told him I would be in on Saturday at 1030.
We went in on Saturday, Jacob was not available, no big deal. A assistant sales manager put me in touch with a sales person, Brandon. He was nice and looked at my vehicle, and we drove a raptor that was close to what I wanted but was more than I wanted to spend on MSRP. We drove the Raptor and at the end Brandon told me that the dealer markup was 10,000 over MSRP. I told him that I was wasting his time and we drove back. I asked for my keys and waited. Brandon came back and told me he wanted to get me some numbers on the truck I drove. They offered me 4000 for my trade, 3500 under average trade in on my chevy truck. The blue book on my truck list average at 7500,and my truck is a 2004 but is in great condition. Then they show me the total on the Raptor, 85,000 without my trade in, MSRP is 69 and change.
Oh my God,
Again I said we were about 25000 off, which would account for the large cash down payment I was going to put on the truck with my trade. I said I wanted at least 7000 for my truck and was not going to pay the dealer premium and asked for my keys, was ready to go and apologized for wasting their time. Then the same assistant sales manager comes out, asks what it would take, I said I wanted to be under a certain payment, which would account for cash down and my trade. The guy says what if I give you your asking on trade and I get rid of dealer premium. I waited for 10 more minutes and then a little dude comes out, trying to be all bad ass, with minions following him, and says thank you and finally hands me my keys. His demeanor was agressive like I had been insulting him.
I told the first sales person I did not know about the dealer premium and apologized for wasting his time. But NO, they kept on trying to make the sale. I am not going to pay 85000 for a truck, I can buy a corvette or a used 911 for that. Maybe they did not think I had the money or something, oh well looks can be deceiving.
Lessons Learned
Don't beleive what you hear on the radio, KUPD, 97.9. KUPD can't stop saying Peoria Ford is great, NOT. I was treated great, until the little dude thought he had to come out of his glass cage and put me in my place. They really need to be more transparent, tell customers all fees and mark ups, like add on tint, trim, etc. Why even put a payment calculator on the sites if they are almost 20000 away for what you are going to buy the vehicle for. I know I will tell everyone I see in the LE community how horrible Peoria Ford is.
Update
Received call from GM Joe. He was very apologetic and asked what he could do to make my bad experience better. He asked if I would buy Raptor at MSRP. I said thanks but would pass and go somewhere else. He was very nice and said if I ever needed anything then contact him. I appreciate his call and will rethink doing business with them in the future.
