| - In terms of large theatres downtown, AMC will always play second fiddle to Scotiabank for me.
While they do a bazillion theatres (24, in fact) as well as IMAX and ETX, There is just something missing - and my suspicion is that it's their concessions.
While their popcorn is ok (often dry, not the best) and their drinks are pretty typical, they don't have anything else special. One thing that kills me is the lack of flavor shakers... to the point that every time I went there for the first year-ish, I asked and they told me "they're coming" but now I know it was a lie! Also, I had one of their staff members tell me not to get a pretzel because "they're gross". So, I'm not so impressed on the food front (at least I can eat in the food court downstairs?)
Another downside of this theatre is their midnight releases - they just don't have the space like other theatres, which results in lines in the food court downstairs. Not ideal.
All this being said, AMC does have the bonus of cheap movies before noon, though, no cheap days (like Tuesdays are in cineplex movies).
Overall. it's a big theatre wtih state of the art sound and great digital picture. Worth going to, yes, but if they up the concessions, they might be able to make it 5 stars!
