  • I don't even know where to begin about the Babymoon Inn. I was the skeptical grandmother and was particularly concerned that my daughter and her husband decided to take this option for the birth of my first grandson. I will now be the first to admit, I was WRONG, dead WRONG! From the warmth we felt at the first orientation, to the months of informative classes to those final weeks as a resource, Babymoon staff was there throughout as a source of support. My daughter and her husband loved Amy and how much she cared for them. However, the REAL quality of the service was experienced on the birth date. My daughter was 10 days beyond her due date, so everyone was getting anxious about the birth. As she was assured by the staff that the baby was "locked and loaded" and ready to go, it became clear he was finally ready to make his debut. On the day prior to his birth, my daughter began having contractions every 4-5 minutes. This went on for more than 24 hours. Of course she was able to call Babymoon, get right in, get examined and assured that the baby was ready. However, she wasn't dilating. In a normal hospital setting, that typically means Cesarean almost immediately. Finally her water broke. Her husband called the center at 3:45 in the morning, and they answered as if it was 12:00 noon. They told him to bring her in as she continued to experience more intense contractions. Expecting that the day would progress as I had heard about in the classes, I had more than enough snacks and videos, planning to hunker down for the day. Were we in for a surprise. Under the careful eye of Ashley, it was clear the baby was going to be here in a matter of minutes. Concerned about her failure to dilate, Ashley informed us - as kindly as she could - that a "transfer" might be required. Knowing my daughter wanted the home birth experience, Ashley worked her buns off to bring that baby into the world...and she did. She called for additional staff and there were literally "all hands on deck". These were women who obviously knew their craft, but weren't just going through the motions. All of us felt that they truly and genuinely cared about the health of my daughter and her baby. There's so more to the story, but as you can tell, I am overjoyed, elated and thrilled and it is without hesitation that I recommend not only the birthing experience for parents seeking an alternative to the hospital setting, but Babymoon Inn Birth Center in particular as the preferred choice for parents (and grandparents) who want a warm, personalized and loving experience by health care professionals whose sole priority is the health and well-being of mother and baby. Attend an orientation and you be the judge. All I can say is "way to go Babymoon". You're the best!
