I've been here multiple times because it is on campus and cheap. I've gotten my hair cut here multiple times and a pedicure a couple of times. All of my experiences are definitely mediocre.
My hair is a bit difficult to work with. I have thick, coarse, Asian hair and if it is cut incorrectly, it will have a shaggy appearance. I've had it cut here several times and while none of the cuts were extremely horrible, they have not been spectacular either. I always leave feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
As for pedicures, I feel like they never do a good job at exfoliating or at cleaning up around your toe area. I'd rather go to a place in a mall, they'd do a better job.
I would never dare go here for highlights or any sort of color. I currently get my hair highlighted and would never come here because putting bleach in naturally black hair is a very delicate process and I don't trust that the people at the Aveda Institute would be very experienced with my hair type. If I want cheap services in the future, I'll probably just look to be a model for salon apprentices in Chicago instead.
