  • This is a fantastic way to get out of "Las Vegas". It's only 25 minutes West of the Strip. Do yourself a favor and get a season pass. It's only $20 and good for one year. Of course, that means you'll have to go 4 times to get your money back. Boo Hoo. My friends and I like to go rappelling in Red Rock. No, we don't climb up the rocks, then rappel slowly down the side. We hike to the top of the cliff, strap in, then JUMP OFF. ;-) If you need a visual, it kind of looks like those guys you see jumping out of helicopters attached to a rope. It's a ton of fun. If you're interested in going with us, you'll need a couple of things. First, you'll need a harness, which you can pick up at either Sport Chalet or REI in the District. Next, you'll need a carabiner. This will help your harness, once attached to a belay, to stay on the rope. Last, you'll need a belay. I recommend what's called a "Rescue Figure 8", for the best thrill ride of your life. All that should only add up to about $100. Once you have your gear, let me know, and we'll go out. I have everything else you'll need, including the most important thing, rope.
