| - I bought the Groupon for two washes. Today I got the second wash. You pull up on the driveway and a guy that is good with words asks whether you want to buy windshield services. Luckily they accept a no though. They you go in and wait and can see your car being hosed down on TV screens, which is a nice feature which creates a certain sense of professionalism. That sense is all fake though. I checked out and the clerk had a big insect on her bang. My wife asked if she was not going to kill it, and she responded "nah, in this store there are insects everywhere" without even joking. Finally they get some guy detail your car while other guys hang around and dont do much (wait for other customers probably) and you step out and can inspect the car. My car was not clean at all which is alarming because parts of it was actually freshly painted which makes it easy to tell the quality of the cleaning job they did. Most of the gunk was insects and they said bug cleaning was not included. Really? I thought I paid for getting the car somewhat clean (and if you wash a car like you should, the bugs should come off automatically). What I did pay for is still a mystery (they were probably hoping I would use the massage chairs in the waiting room or play the slots, or perhaps buy something in the shop). Then the guy used an insect sponge so apparently bug cleaning was included after all, but he dropped it on the ground and took it up again and was going to continue using it, as my wife managed to shout "stop!". She told him that you never re-use anything that has been on the ground. "But this is our only insect sponge" he said. Not only that, when he was using the micro fiber cloth on the lower part of the car, he dragged it onto the ground. When I told him that the first rule of car cleaning is to never use anything that has been on the ground because it could contain small sand particles which could cause bad scratches in the paint, he looked surprised towards his colleagues and they nodded. Then the manager came and excused the employee, "he did not know that". Well, shouldnt someone had spent an hour or so educating these people before you let them loose on peoples cars for money?
I recently polished my car and now it has some fresh sharp scratches, most likely due to sand in the cloths they used on my car. They offered the next wash for free but I declined - the value of letting someone who does not know ANYTHING about car cleaning work on your car is less than zero. In fact I will stay away from Groupon services altogether.
