  • If you can't find a place to do it at Bailey Road Park, chances are you are either into swimming or equestrian events, because that's about all that isn't available at this place. Located off Hwy. 115 between Cornelius and Huntersville, the park encompasses 57 acres and includes two lighted soccer fields and a football field, three lighted tennis courts, two lighted baseball/softball fields, two full-court basketball courts, a running track, a walking/jogging loop, two playground areas and two sheltered picnic areas with public restrooms. Oh, and there is a 9-hole disc golf course as well. An outdoor band shell was erected in 2007. It stands on the north side near the two soccer fields and has hosted everything from concerts to theatrical performances. While the basketball courts are vaguely lit in the evenings, it is enough to shoot around once your eyes adjust. The lights at the tennis courts shut off at 10:30, and many is the time I have been in the middle of playing, with a ball screaming towards me off a serve, when the lights cut out! Its just an excellent place to get your exercise on.
