| - I am not a yelper, though I feel as a consumer, it is important to express my recent disappointing experience with American Home Movers.
We relocated furniture from our vacation rental in Las Vegas to our primary residence in Southern California. Listed below is what we experienced, which was unacceptable and I am filing a complaint with claims, though the company does not seem interested in having any supervisor or boss to follow up to express any concern or how they would expect to rectify our recent issues we experienced during our move:
1. Movers were 1.5 hours late from targeted time of arrival - we were accepting of this and told them to have lunch before they arrived so they could work continuously without being disrupted
2. 2 floor lamps were damaged in transit; they were dented and bent out of shape
3. A porcelain/ceramic Italian stand as part of a floor lamp, was damaged in transit
4. A glass dining room table was damaged on assembly - the mover attempted to assemble the side leaves to the dining table without any success
5. Refrigerator was forced through a narrow doorway scratching a newly painted door frame and molding
6. Refrigerator was not correctly connected to the water connection, we had to shut down the water to the house and contact a contractor to fix the issue the following morning on Sat 5/2
7. Washer was not correctly connected in the garage or may have been damaged in transit and leaked water from underneath soaking our boxes on the garage floor, my family has spent the morning/afternoon cleaning up the mess
8. Trash from boxes, tape, etc were left on site in front of the house - is this standard, do you not discard?
I have to reiterate, that one of the movers had to be constantly micro-managed. He did not speak English and nodded his head and said yes to anything and everything we said without any understanding. The foreman, attempted to do his job and was professional and cordial, though he had to monitor and jump in to assist, fix or take over his partner's tasks which caused them to fall behind for their next delivery route. We did not want to make things difficult for them as they were already late with the next delivery and we could see he was trying to make every effort to rectify things on site, though the foreman was growing frustrated with the lack of help from his partner.
Our experience on the receiving end with this moving company has not been pleasant. We paid company close to $3,000 in moving expenses in full after experiencing the above issues. We just began the claims process and I will continue to keep you posted on our progress.
