  • Hands down the best!!. I have a black lab pup she's only a year and a half old, and I desperately needed to find a dog boarding facility for a last minute trip. I was referred to second home pet by my soon to be mother in law, as she has taken her dog here before. I live in litchfield park so this location is quite a drive for me, but with that said I will never board my dog any where else!. I called second home pet just 2 days prior to super bowl Sunday to see if they had any availability. Luckily they did! I drove out and was greeted immediately by a very welcoming staff!. I told them we spoke on the phone about my lab possibly being boarded. They gave me a full tour of the grounds and ALL the rooms they offer and how much each of them are. They also showed me the kitchen, and the day care facility. Each of them very clean and very nice!. While this place is pricey I want my girl to be treated by the best. I paid for extra play time and swimming time (because she's a lab need I say more) which for 3 days was 15$ extra per day. And extra cuddle time was 9$ per day. On top of the room charge which was around 60$ (you can get rooms for as low as 45$ which are just as nice!) I chose a room that faces the swimming area that offered a patio attached to her room. For reference she's about 60 lbs a good medium sized lab. I wanted her to be safe, comfortable and well looked after. Cody one of the staff members took extra measures to send me videos and photos via txt to ease my worry. As it was the first time she was being boarded. I will definitely recommend second home pet resort to any one looking to board their pet here. The staff is wonderful, the resort is clean and safe, I feel confident leaving my girl in their care. (Side note for cat owners out there, I have 2 cats as well. They offer a few very spacious cozy clean rooms for your cat to be well looked after.) All I can say is looking online doesn't do this place justice when you step foot inside SHPR you will be instantly put at ease that every one here will do their best for you and your pet.
