I took my wedding dress to get cleaned and boxed to this cleaning service in June 2013. I was told it would be ready at the end of July and was quoted $250 + taxes. I was also given the option of seeing the dress before it was boxed, so I said yes. I did not live in the area and found it difficult to get to, but thought I'd try it out because my cousin spoke highly of this location.
At the time I dropped off the dress, I was 7 months pregnant and found it increasingly hard to drive to Brampton, so I really counted on going to get the dress at the end of July. I called to check in and was told that 'they were busier than usual and the dress wasn't ready yet' and that I should call again in a week and that it should be done. The following week, it still wasn't done. So I told them I'd come for it in August before my due date of Sept 5th. I called at the end of August (now hugely pregnant) and said I was available to pick it up... however yet again it still wasn't done. I then had my baby and as all parents know, the first 6-8 weeks are a total haze. I phoned them again in November and said that I was going to send my mom for it (she works close by) and to just box it up without me seeing it since I couldn't get there easily with a newborn. They said ok and that my mom should call before coming. My mom went before Christmas and it STILL wasn't done because 'they were waiting for me to come see it before boxing it!' I told them I didn't care about seeing it anymore before I had my baby... I dropped it off in June for god sakes!!!
Not only that, but the woman at the store also quoted my mother $339 (including taxes) which is NOT the $250 + taxes I was originally quoted back in June. Finally after ALL the hassle, my mom was told the dress would be ready after Christmas. So she got it in January for $339.
When I called the store to find out why the rate was different they said it was because my dress was more 'soiled' than expected and it took longer than anticipated to clean. I said I wouldn't have a problem with the price IF they would have told me in advance that the price was going to change! The girl at the store actually FOUGHT me on this. She said that it's store policy to not let the customer know about a price change unless the customer asks. Um, what? That's just bad business in my books. Shouldn't the customer be informed at all times ESPECIALLY if a price was already quoted? I would think this is just common sense.
After all is said and done, NO I would not recommend this cleaning service to anyone. Lesson learned.
