| - This place is so funny... from the outside, driving past, it doesn't look like much. For a long time it had plastic lawn furniture for outside seating that turned yellow from the sun. You remember those - from your youth? It was the only thing your mum would let you spray with the hose for hours on end.
It's only two blocks from my house, and outside of it is the mailbox I use. So for a while, I kind of tuned out that it was even there. Then I started noticing that there were always a lot of cars parked around it, it was hard to get in to get to the mailbox. And then I noticed that there were always people coming in and out. And THEN, as summer in Calgary finally showed up (in August) I noticed there were always people sitting outside of it. Last straw.
This morning I decided to stop in for a coffee and a bite, just to check it out. I told the lady it was my first time in there and apparently it's actually a bakery and a coffee/breakfast place. Who knew! Tons of seating, two or three gals on staff, very sweet. I picked up my coffee and banana loaf (which is delish, BTW) and then the guy behind me stepped up to order. She knew his name - and the customer behind him and the customer behind her.
Old.School.Customer.Service. I love. I love love love lurve love. I will go back and go back and go back. I'm stoked! Two blocks away, friendly people, not silly busy. If they have wi-fi (which I doubt) I'll pinch myself - because I will have to be dreaming.
