  • I was in Vegas for the SEMA show. Picked up my 530i about 9:00 am from the Wynn valet and he'd rolled the window down when he brought it up. I get in and the drivers side window won't go back up. I tried pulling on it but the switch seemed to stop working when the window barely an inch out of the door. Facing the prospect of driving back to LA with my window down, I checked yelp for BMW repair. BMW Only had 5 stars AND they were open on Saturday. I called and explained the condition and was told most likely my actuator motor went out. I was put on hold and after a few moments was told he didn't have one on the shelf but he could get one today. Bring the car in after lunch and he could fix it in about an hour. Sigh of relief BUT I explained I was just heading out of town to go home. He said in that case, bring the car in now and he'd run and get the part right away. I got to BMW Only and as soon as i walked in, Victor asked if I was the guy with the window on the 5 series. (I was two blocks away when I called him) I said yes and he told one of his guys to start on my car and he would run to get the part I needed. By 10:30 I was on my way back to LA with a fully functioning drivers side window. When he was writing up my invoice, Victor mentioned that he'd noticed my instrument bar was missing some sections. He suggested I find a BMW shop and they can take it out and send it off to get repaired. I asked if that would be better than trying to find a used one from another car and Victor explained that if I ever sold the car, the odometer would always have an asterisk saying the mileage could not be verified. GOOD TO KNOW. In my view, Victor went above and beyond even though he said I was lucky it was a Saturday. During the weeks he might have been too booked up to get me right in like that. The tip about the instrument cluster was not necessary but I found most helpful. BMW owners in Vegas....you are lucky this great shop is close by.
