| - This zoo is one of the hidden gems of the city. Parking is not the best feature, only because there are so many people that want to visit. If you're lucky you'll end up in the lot, if you have our luck you'll be four blocks down on Randall Street on a beautiful sunny weekend day.
First off, this zoo is free. There is a donation box which I happily will donate their suggested $2.00 donation as this is a real zoo. There are lions and tigers and a polar bear (oh my!), seals, and giraffes, and flamingos, bison, and monkeys (which my daughter happily ooh-ooh-aaah-aah'd at. I haven't even named them all, but it's well worth the visit The exhibit are comfortably spaced, the animals do what animals do (the lion lazily sun bathed, the polar bear said "no way" to sunny 70s weather and made the crowd cheer as he dove and swam in his pool.
I do suggest a stroller which are welcome there if you have small children or someone that tires easily. My girls made it through half the zoo before they got tired. There are strollers to rent ($10 deposit and $5 is returned when finished).
I anticipate many more visits from us in the future.
