| - This place makes me sad. For so many reasons. I so wanted it to be good. I'd so enjoyed the food over the years at Siena's (now closed) location near UNLV. Walk in, it's pretty, it's dark, obviously what someone's been dreaming of for years. The menu is pretty large, but it's one of those menus where you look at it, and there's nothing that jumps out at you. OK, maybe that's just my taste...
A salad was so drenched in dressing I felt sorry for the spinach (and it should've been called a 'walnut salad' not a spinach salad since it was chock-full of walnuts, but not much spinach...weird...) A pizza was solid (it's always been one of their strengths,) and pretty good value...easily big enough for 2 people (or 1 person's dinner AND lunch the next day.)
I took a peek into the deli next door and it was the familiar Siena fare, although it seemed pricier than the original location (like I never remember paying $7.99 a pound for their hot sausage.)
Finally, our waiter just kinda seemed to be wandering around aimlessly a lot of the time. As I've mentioned before, I hate places where runners and bus staff have to pick up the slack all the time for less-than-competent waitstaff, and that was definitely the case here, at least with our waiter. The slack was picked up really well by a really efficient bus person...but shouldn't be that way.
