We stayed at the Omni while in Charlotte to attend a Panthers game. The public spaces in the Omni are quite nice. The restaurant offers an incredible breakfast buffet for $15pp as well as menu offerings. The buffet had quite a large selection. Probably one of the largest hotel breakfast buffets I've seen. The parking garage is valet and I commend the speed in which the cars are brought to the owners. We needed the car just to put some things in it, not to drive. The valet had it to us within 3 minutes!
Now to the room.....This is where it doesn't live up to the Omni brand. For well over $200/night I expected Omni got a Travelodge experience. The room had a heavy odor of mildew. Nothing we did could mask it. The carpets were dirty. Too dirty to walk barefoot in the room. There were some hairs on the sink from the previous guests. But the worst of the experience was the blood stains on the sheets. Granted they had been washed, but I would think the housekeeper would know better than to use those sheets. She had to have seen the stains! I gagged when I pulled the covers down and saw them. I spread towels over the sheets to cover the stains. Although it was very late at night, in hindsight I should have called the front desk to ask the bed be remade with clean, non stained sheets.
Save yourself a nightmare. Stay at the Aloft across the street.
