| - Went to Jazzy Braidz salon last Saturday for crochet braids. This was my very first time getting this style so I arrived 30 minutes early for my appointment to not only make sure I was on time but to have a chance to ask her questions about the style I was getting. When I arrived, I only waited for about 10 minutes before Jazzy herself sat me in her chair. I started asking her questions to make sure we were on the same page and immediately she approached me with a sour attitude and commented,"If I would've known you were gonna come in here with 50 million questions.." then sat down. As I continued on with my questions, her attitude stayed the same. I'm a visual person so I asked if she had any pictures/examples of the techniques she was referring to and she responds,"I don't take pictures of my work anymore, I've been doing this for 20 years." Ok? As a client, paying $150 for a service, I would think a stylist's job is to provide reassurance. After the vibe I was getting I should've gone home but instead I stayed. Altogether it took about 5 hours to complete. I came in with 4 packs of hair instead of the 3 she suggested and it still wasn't enough hair. Two packs were used for the front of my head and two for the back. I wanted to be able to put my hair up in a high ponytail, which I had explained to her when I first got there. But because there wasn't enough hair, the "beehive" braid pattern was visible in the back of my head.
Aside from my experience at the salon itself, I took the crochet braids out today (6 days later) because there was a lot of tension on my edges. Enough tension to where I was experiencing tension alopecia. The crochet braids themselves were not horrible but I don't think the style is for me. I was not a fan of having visible braids in the front or the back.
Overall I am extremely disappointed. Not only did I not appreciate the attitude I received at the salon, but I spent $195 (including the hair) to get this style just to take it out 6 days later. Will I be going back? Absolutely not.
