I LOVE that is place is owned and operated by women! It is about time for women to make a dent in the craft brewery market. Overall, they are doing a great job:
Their beers are consistently good. I tried a few and all were good quality with an approachable flavor profile. I particularly liked the brown. It was a small menu, but I hope it will grow.
Their atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Customer service is good, they have an indoor and outdoor area, offer a small food menu, and have some games for entertainment.
The reason I give this place only 3-stars is for a few reasons.
1) Their beers don't really stand out against the extensive Charlotte market of craft beers. The main thing that makes them unique is that it is owned by women and I worry that that won't be enough to help them stand out.
2) I ordered the Pippy flatbread (tomato sauce topped with mozzarella, diced tomato & basil) and it was only ok. The bread itself was a little too bready/doughy and I would've preferred something more crispy. The toppings on the bread were relatively plain and could've used some herbs, salt, or some sort of extra flavor boost.
3) They need some music outside. I spent most of my time out on the patio playing giant jenga and it was pretty quiet. We wound up putting someone's phone in a cup to play some tunes.
I realize that Bold Missy is just getting started and I'm really excited for this business, don't get me wrong, but I think a few small improvements will help them out in the long term.
