  • MOST AWFUL TREATMENT & HOSPITALITY I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED, BUT ONLY BY THE OWNER. Just take a look at the star rating. 5 out of 12 people gave this hotel 1 star. Just sayin'. The owner feels that rudeness & sarcasm are how to deal with customer complaints. My experience: We checked in & didn't get the room we asked for & beds are so uncomfortable. The shower/tub had MANY black hairs in it & no one felt comfortable to use it. It also seemed that one of the beds had just been re-made rather than the sheets changed. About 10pm we decided to go to bed & noticed quite a bit of noise in the hallway. There were children running up & down the hall making quite a bit of noise & keeping us up. We thought about calling down to the desk to complain but thought maybe we were making too much of a big deal of it, so we bit our tongues. We were also kept awake by the Industrial plant & MANY trains RIGHT behind the hotel. At 6:45am we were awoken. NOT by an alarm or a wake up call from the front desk. Nope, by the kids yelling & running up & down the halls again, this time the parents were present. We waited 45 MINUTES for it to quiet down before we finally had to say something. It took us 4 times of asking nicely & one time of yelling at them to finally be heard over their noise to please be quiet, people are still trying to sleep. When we called down to the front desk to complain we were told that we would have to call down later to talk to the manager. So ok, you wont take my complaint & give it to the manager, I have to do it later? We then went down to the, what I am convinced is a powdered egg breakfast. Not one person came out to replenish, well, anything. As I was leaving 'breakfast' I saw the manager was in his office. I was respectful, stood at his door, waited several minutes to be acknowledged & never was. I then stepped into the office and asked if he was the manager & if i could speak with him a moment. Before I had a chance to discuss the issue, the first words out of his mouth to me were 'You're from room 348 aren't you?' Hmmmm, as a matter of fact, yes & why? Well apparently the desk clerk DID tell the manager & he wasn't happy that now 'I' was talking to him. I'm just doing what YOUR EMPLOYEE told me to do. So I let him know my experience & here is what he told me, without ever looking up from his paperwork: 'You should have called last night & we would have moved you.' In his most 'why are you bothering me, get over it' tone. Why do WE have to move when WE are not breaking the rules & causing problems? You would make me move after 11 pm because I was complaining? Secondly he admitted that he lives on the 3rd floor & heard all of the noise & didn't do a thing about it. Apparently the loud people were checking out that morning so he couldn't see why we were complaining now. How did we know that? YOU ARE THE OWNER, WHY ARE YOU NOT MAKING SURE PEOPLE ARE FOLLOWING THE RULES WHEN YOU ARE AWARE THEY ARE BEING TOO LOUD?And how did I become the bad guy for complaining? My suspicion (as well as Best Westerns Corporate Office suspects) is that the noisy people were either his family or he knew them. When checking out & trying to complete the payment process, we weren't too happy about our treatment and were pretty vocal about it at this point. Because apparently being vocal is ok in this hotel, right? But when we did it, the owner/mngr (DANNY BAKER) got pissed and followed us down the hall & told us to "just leave, get out of here. (Well, do you want us to pay for the room or get out of here, which is it?) You know, I was going to give you a free nights stay but not now." And then he BANNED us from ever staying at his hotel again. Are you kidding? Why would we stay there again (even free) with an owner who acts like this, a dirty room, loud noises coming from outside & awful breakfast? He literally yelled at us, tried to tell us the conversation was over but kept at us with rude comments. The one thing he said that REALLY showed me who he is and what he thinks he can do with his business,( and understand, not one of us had mentioned that we would review his hotel on any kind of site or talk to anyone about how we were treated) he said "I'm the owner, I can do whatever I want and nothing you say to anyone or any review you write will make any difference to my business" In reading other reviews, this isn't the first time he has said something like this. I don't think he understands, it's not about the noise anymore, it's about my not wanting to ever give money to a person like him again. **UPDATE:Called Best Western Corporate. This is now on his permanent file. If he has too many complaints he will incur fines before having the Best Western flag stripped from him. Now I see why Danny spoke up, saying nothing can happen to his business if we complained. I'm confident this isn't the first complaint in his file. They also told me that if we had called them when this happened they would have forced him to comp us**
