I seriously wanted to write a 5 star review after the garlic butter wings appetizer came out. Good flavor, crispy texture, juicy meat and plenty of sauce if you like them with more. Ordered pho, bbq banh mi, and ahi tuna green salad. The pho came out room temperature. I'm not bagging on them but this is the second time in two months this happened, so I'm confused why the broth isn't the temperature of the sun. It slightly concerns me that it's not hot enough to cook the raw meat as it was intended. Sent it back, they warmed it and everything was fine. You would think the token flagship dish of vietnamese food in a vietnamese restaurant would be bulletproof. Next the banh mi. Ugh. Insert sigh here. Again second attempt....I'm trying to be fair and give two attempt before writing it down for the world to see. First thought....WTF. The supposed pickled vegetables came out limp and soaked in rice wine (both times). I'm pretty sure it's rice wine vinegar that was supposed to be used with sugar and other spices. # disappointed. It killed the sandwich. The overwhelming taste of alcohol from the cooking wine ruined it. Peeled veggies off for the second time and dipped it in the wing sauce to mask the tadte on the bread. And finally, the salad was great. Nice presentation, good portion, and the citrus miso dressing was a nice touch. The ahi was fresh and we all know you can easily tell if it's not. I've been told Saigon Kitchen in Surprise is a sister restaurant....go there....it's worth the drive. Never ever been disappointed there.
