  • So this review is based solely on service as I ended up purchasing my car from Avondale Toyota (which for the record was honestly one of the best buying experiences I've ever had). I'll preface this by saying that I'm pretty hard on service departments at car dealerships. In my time I've owned and maintained vehicles from Acura, Audi, Chevrolet, GMC, Infiniti, Jeep, VW and now Toyota (with a 2016 4Runner). I've always enjoyed the whole "premium" service experience with luxury makes, but do admit that it comes with a VERY premium price. One thing that stands out to me is that Toyota does not have any sort of "express lane" service for items like oil changes where you just show up. This is something that both Jeep (Chrylser) and VW are doing now, so that alone bugs me since you need to get an appointment scheduled. Note, I've never really waited more than maybe 2 hours for an "express" service in the last few years; and that's without any appointment. So I schedule my 10K service for 3:20 PM on Friday, September 15 and I figure, oil change, tire rotation and a pretty cursory inspection--how long can this take. I elect to wait for the car since my house is a bit over their shuttle range and I just need to try to get this done. I also had done my 5K at Earnhardt Toyota and was in and out in literally less than 45 minutes. Anyway, long story short, I sat in the waiting room for over 2.5 hours. No warning up front, no nothing. Then I finally get the car back and they hadn't washed it or anything (something Earnhardt did in the 45 minutes my car was in for the 5K service). I kind of muttered about this to the porter when I picked it up and he was just kind of like: "Uh, we can wash it now." Having my 4 month with me who had miraculously not gone into full melt down mode during this huge wait I just simply replied: "No, it's too late now" and got out of there. For my next couple of services I'll stick with Earnhardt (which isn't quite as conveniently located for me) and see how it goes. If you're dropping a car off you may not have this issue, but all I can say is... WOW! Time is just too valuable in this day and age to have such an excessive wait time with no communication... Maybe I'm being petty, but...
