| - I decided to surprise my husband with a stay at The Resort on Mt Charleston as a little weekend getaway in cooler weather. The grounds were cute and well kept and the pond was nice. The lobby was decorated like a cozy mountain retreat. We checked in and were given our room keys. Went to our room and it was surprisingly occupied. UHG back to the front desk. New keys, new room. (mind you, luggage in tow and no elevator). The room was very small and blah. Facing the mountain with a view of part of the parking lot. We asked for an upgrade to the upper level. Was told it would be just a few minutes for the front desk agent to get back to me. We checked back several times and was told it was going to happen just needed to get things situated. Almost 3 hours later, we were given a new room with a balcony. Again small and dark, but clean. We decided to go to dinner at the Cut Above Steak House on site. It was the worst dining experience we have ever had. The server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Not very nice, never a smile, did not make recommendations. My husband ordered a $24 steak which looked like something left over from someones half eaten steak at Dennys. It was small, overcooked (he asked for med-rare, and got almost well done). The salad I got was small and blah....(they have no vegetarian options). We ordered iced tea. I did not get a refill, but when my husband asked for one, the waitress returned with water and stated they were out of tea (?)... couldn't make any? it was 8:15.... they close at 10.
Overall, it was a waste of time. I could have gotten a deal on the strip and a nicer room. This place really needs and overhaul. From the manager down to the staff.
*Oh by the way, they charge a $10.95 resort fee.... FOR WHAT.... They have NO amenities.
Needless to say, I will not go back and would not recommend this to anyone.
