| - My husband and I came to Vegas to spend the week with his parents. My in-laws had a voucher for a one night stay plus 2 dinner entrees and 2 breakfast entrees for $100. Great deal, no doubt, but the place is lacking in some major areas.
First, the sign, website, and business cards of this place all claim that they have a spa. This is completely untrue; there is no massage service, no funny mud treatments, no jacuzzi, sauna, hot tub, pool, etc. So that's a little ridiculous. Also, although this is a mountain ski area, we're a good distance away from where the snow will eventually be. There isn't much for entertainment, aside from hiking, which we did do a little of and that was alright. We didn't want to watch the t.v. in our room, so we asked the front desk if they had any board games or cards. Nope, no reading materials either. No big deal, really, we came to relax so we played pool and the happy hour in the bar was 4 hours long, so we had a few drinks.
Dinner was better than breakfast; I had fried fish and chips for dinner which tasted fresh and like it was fried in hot, clean oil. I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast; it tasted like the Krusteaz mix my mom likes.
All of the staff were really nice and friendly, except when we first checked in our room smelled a bit like a cigarette (it's a non-smoking room) so we opened the window to air it out. A few minutes later, a male employee knocked on our door and told us that we can't smoke in our room and that we had signed a paper when we checked in that we agreed to a $275 fine if we did smoke in the room. We explained what had happened and told him that we don't smoke (who even smokes anymore??). The employee told us several times to, "just be careful" and reminded us about that fine a few more times. My husband went to the front desk to make sure we weren't being charged that fine and we aren't, so it ended up being just a strange encounter.
Later that night, I had a pretty bad headache. My husband asked the front desk for some aspirin; nope, sorry. They don't have aspirin or any toiletries. Fantastic.
All in all, we had an okay time. I would have rather stayed at my in-laws though; at least they have decks of cards.
