My friend told me about the Akhob exhibit by James Turrell and I figured, why not? Walking into the Louis Vuitton store made me feel really uncomfortable. I've never been into luxury brands and personally, I find a lot of Louis Vuitton items to be too flashy for my taste.
As we waited for the person from the exhibit to come fetch us, we browsed the selection a little bit. She gave us the background about Louis Vuitton stores' commitment to art and took us around to see the three other art pieces in the store before we took the elevator up to the 3rd floor for the main attraction.
We had to sign a waiver and I didn't know what to expect. We were then led to the actual exhibit and we had to take off our shoes and put on white shoe covers (over our bare feet). The exhibit was cool and a bit disorienting. It was interesting how the perception of depth and color changes depending on where we were standing. After about 5 minutes, we had enough and headed out. Not bad for free and it's something different to do in Las Vegas.
