So I've had pain in my foot since I hurt it as a child. I'm now 41 and it still hurts, often... sometimes it's debilitating and I simply can't move for a minute or two :-( Sometimes it's so painful that I catch myself holding my breath waiting for the searing pain sensation to pass. No bueno!
One day a co-worker of mine came into work singing the praises of her new found acupuncturist. She said this woman could tell you what you ate the night before just by feeling your pulses. After paying for MRI's, x-rays, multiple cortisone shots, personalized orthotics (2 sets from 2 different doctors) and an alarming number of "pain management" medication offers I was really at the point of being very willing to try a more holistic, Eastern approach to my foot pain.
So I make an appointment, I go and it's relaxing but my foot still hurt. Acupuncture isn't magic and it isn't designed to be a band aid or quick fix. After the second appointment I could really tell something new was happening inside the area of acute pain in my foot. After the third appointment I was able to completely stop stacking the over the counter medications to manage my foot pain. Those Aleve, Tylenol and Motrin bottles are still sitting in my cabinet, but I haven't needed them in over 2 weeks now :-) I am a believer!! The foot still has moments of pain, but they're much less intense and are far more fleeting than before... and this is after only 3 sessions! I no longer even think about the money because it's still FAR cheaper than all the doctors and medications AND it's working much faster and it's all happening from within my own body which I really value. My insurance covers Acupuncture so it's not like it used to be where nobody had ever heard of it and nobody covered it. Welcome to 2016 and to Acupuncture of the Carolinas; make yourself an appointment and put their number in your phone = you won't be sorry :-)
