***Maybe you want somewhere comfortable to go alone to let out your crafty side--especially if you aren't really crafty or artsy and need a little direction?
***Have you had a bad experience at 'other' paint parties?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you're welcome. I just found your answer. Last night a few friends and I had our first experience with Elizabeth and Mike at Paint Like Me Party, and it was phenomenal. How phenomenal, you ask? Well, we have all signed up for another event in two weeks, if that tells you anything! I'm hooked!
The event last night was hosted at their storefront studio--a darling downtown Mahomet venue painted a cheery yellow color out front. Inside, there were several tables and stools and everything you need to complete your masterpiece, including direction and constant encouragement. We brought wine and cheese and crackers and grapes and had a blast. And my end result was actually great--which is shocking to me because I absolutely SUCK at anything artistic. Seriously. I'm bad. But this turned out great and I had an amazing time. And you know what? All this fun only cost me $20 for an 8 x 10 painting. BOOM.
Elizabeth and Mike also schedule large parties at other venues throughout Champaign and Decatur and can do private parties either in their studio or at any venue you choose, including your home. In addition to small canvasses, (is that the right plural? I'm non-artsy. I don't really know...) they offer larger projects and even couples projects where each person paints a different canvas and they are displayed together. Recently, they are offering classes in pottery from a guest artist, too. And in addition to creating your own beautiful artwork, they sell the work of local artisans and have the occasional 'pop up shop' where you can see SEVERAL different types of things from cool, crafty and artsy people in the area.
I've been to one of those 'other' painting studios where I was rushed, and where I didn't get to laugh with my friends...no less make new ones like I did here! And I paid a lot more money there and came home with something I didn't like. So I was a little cautious. But this was a fantastic experience and people are now going to have to listen to me talk about it a lot as a result. :)
This was a great, relaxing, fun time. And I have a fantastic souveneir to prove it!
