I have read bad reviews about this hospital elsewhere and I can understand why this place scored so low in terms of pet treatment because you will definitely NOT get the "fluffy" experience. The hospital is in the hood, looks rundown inside and out and the Techs are rude and should not be dispensing unwanted advise pertaining to things they obviously have no clue of. Dr. Johnson is a very dedicated Vet, works late hours. She truly cares about animals and she's old school. I appreciate that in a Vet. I've been around dogs all of my life, my family was involved in K9 training and breeding. I'm a prey model raw feeder and I don't over vaccinate, my dogs are never sick other than minor issues like pink eye or bloody paw for example that a dog owner can treat themselves. I know what I'm doing and what I'm talking about and I needed a no BS kind of doc to help my then 9 month old blue nose Pitbull who came down with a vicious strain of parvo and the symptoms were at first different and slower in onset than what I've seen in the past. I usually vaccinate my puppies myself and only with a certain brand. This puppy was given to me at 3 months old from a friend who swore he had his 3 rounds of shots. I should've known better! My puppy suddenly lost HUGE quantities of blood with his stool and with my work schedule and other dogs in the house he needed round the clock emergency care in isolation and he needed it asap. I also didn't have the supplies and meds at hand or I would've started the IV myself. I chose this hospital because it was close and they told me I could come right away, the doc would be waiting for us. I knew his chances were slim and the doc didn't BS me about that either. She kept me informed about my dog's condition through phone calls and she was with him till late into the night. His heart had stopped and his lungs were full of fluids but she brought him back from the dead! He had to stay in ICU for 10 days and lost more than half his body weight! He also had lost part of his vision because his brain had swelling. This ordeal cost me around $1000 which is very reasonable given the length of care he received plus meds. Dr. Johnson never pushed for unnecessary extras or made me feel guilty for wanting to raise my dogs as natural and chemical free as possible. She allowed me to have input regarding his treatment plan as well. My dog survived and fully bounced back within 6 months. He got huge and is all muscle now, he looks beautiful and is very strong and healthy. His vision came back as well! I assume many factors attributed to my dog's recovery but without Dr. Johnson he wouldn't have made it!
