  • Confession - watching the episode of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives that features Krazy Fish has been on my to do list since our first visit. Also trying their tacos but I just haven't gotten around to either yet. Why do I love it here? First - it is so kitschy and I adore it. I naturally find my eyes wander to take everything in when we visit. I feel like every time there is a new surprise based on a different seat. Floating mermaid? Blowfish? Check. Of all the places I have visited in Charlotte I would safely say this has the most unique décor. Second - the service. We have always had the most friendly wait staff. Last time I was eagerly and hungrily watching as our waiter went by with everyone else's food. He eventually stopped off to let me know our food was next (in a joking good humored way) and took the opportunity to see if we wanted more drinks. Even though we don't go often since it is on the other side of town it just has this amazing neighborhood feel to it. Third - maybe the most important. The food. Is. Amazing. Everything we have tried has been delicious. If you order one of their entrees it will quite possibly be more food than you can eat in one sitting. I can attest to never actually finishing a meal there, which means leftovers and I can enjoy it twice! Except the one time we were going out afterward and I had to leave behind such delicious food and my heart broke a little. Fourth - the price. It can be super affordable if you go for a roti with a side which comes to $8 on average. My favorite dish, the seafood diablo, is pricy at $17 BUT comes with more seafood than you would expect. Sure there is a good portion of generic white fish in it but it is also chock full of lobster and mini scallops. Oh and it comes with a ginormous salad to start. So as far as getting a bang for your buck I would say even the entrees are a good deal. Honorable mentions - the Thai green curry mussels are a must try if that's your thing. Huge appetizer portion with tons of bread! The cheesy jalapeño girts - my boyfriend doesn't like grits but went with the waiter's recommendation to get them as a side. He now absolutely gushes about the grits there.
