  • I am 6 months pregnant and was feeling under the weather 2 weeks ago. After calling my OBGYN I was advised that since I am pregnant there's not too much I can do when sick aside from taking Tylenol. Still she advised if I started to feel worse at the end of the day to go to an urgent care. Low and behold by the end of the day my symptoms were worse so I drove myself here. The wait wasn't horrendous, approx 45 minutes with 3 people ahead of me. They took my weight and blood pressure then swabbed me for a strep infection and told me to wait for the provider. 45 minutes later the provider comes into the room and informs me I don't have strep. Her advise is to take Tylenol and "I'm not really sure what else you can take". I would prescribe you Tamiflu but you're pregnant. I told her I know that much I called my OBGYN who advised me to take Tylenol, lozenges, Robitussin DM, and use a neti pot. As a registered pharmacy technician I am perfectly familiar with my medication regulations. Her only reply was "Oh good, I wasn't sure if you could take Robitussin or not". I then asked her if she would like to test me for the flu?, I didn't really come here to be told what I don't have. "Oh sure if you want me to". The nurse comes back in and goes to put the swab in my mouth. The provider then says "What are you doing, that goes in the nose?". The nurse's only reply was whoops sorry I've done so many strep tests today! Such an incompetent staff! The provider then spent the next 30 minutes approx. in the room with us filing out the charts on the laptop and complaining about how the nurse really should have done this. Fire the nurse if she's that unfortunate. The provider told us the flu results should be back within the next 20 minutes later and left the room. OVER AN HOUR LATER I asked my boyfriend to please go check and see what the hold up was. He tracked down the nurse and asked her, "Do you have the flu results yet?". She answered, "Yes, they're negative why?". WHY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Because we're sitting in here simply waiting to find them out so we can go. Her only response was, "Oh I didn't know what you were waiting on." What was their plan? To let us sit there until they closed? Waste of a copay! Waste of my time! Waste of my patience! Please save yourself some trouble and go ANYWHERE ELSE!
