This is a story about an adopted dog named Rocky. When I adopted this precious Rottie/Dobie mix - I knew he had a seizure disorder. I am an RN so I thought it would be a piece of cake to manage him on phenobarbital. Was I wrong!!!! Rocky had grand mal seizures at least once a week, sometimes twice and sometimes multiple seizures in a row. To me, they were worse than a person with seizures and the convulsions, foaming at the mouth, relieving himself were horrible to witness. His post-ictal state was almost worse. Rocky would pace and bump into things, fall in the pool (I built a fence after 23 years to protect him) look frantically for food and even turned on the stove. I have been going to Dr, Ensign at Boca Park animal hospital for years and he and his staff have cared for my rescues with such compassion - I knew they would help Rocky. Everyone from the front desk staff, the tech's, the animal nurses, the vets - in fact anyone you come in contact with is friendly and delivers great customer service. A special shout out to Dr. Gibson who got Rocky's seizures under control. She is so caring and makes you feel like your pet is the only one in the world. Rocky is thriving with the right meds and is a much happier dog! I recommend this facility with my heart and soul. It's also very clean - no odor that you get in other vet offices. One more special shout out to Dr. Ensign who put my Rottie Rico down in December. There are almost no words to describe his kindness at that most difficult time. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
