  • The Hop Shop is a great place to get a beer, relax, and even play some games. I met up with a friend who lives in the area for a drink on Friday before going out for the night. It's a cool garage vibe, with about 10 beers on tap and a large selection on shelves on the walls. There are a variety of beers from different breweries, some from CLT breweries and some that I've never heard of before. The staff is very friendly and will let you taste a couple samples if needed before you decide on the beer. When I had trouble choosing from the samples, I described the type of beer that I liked to the bartender and he chose a great option (that I can't remember now :) .) Like others have said, there is a lot of comfy seating, including the couch swings, and a plenty of games to play along with drinking your delicious beer. You also get a high five if you pay with cash- which is pretty awesome. Overall, a great spot in Plaza Midwood with a good selection of beer, great staff and a fantastic vibe. Can't wait to return!
