| - What can be better than an underground tiki bar on a Sunday night? I came here with two friends around 630 pm and we were lucky enough to snag three seats at the bar. UnderTow is tiny, with a U-shaped bar top and a few small tables, so I definitely wouldn't recommend coming with a big group. The ambiance is incredible - you feel like you're immediately transported to a tiki paradise, complete with scheduled thunderstorms and gorgeous ocean/horizon videos playing through portholes in the walls. Their menu alone is a work of art; the illustrations are awesome and there's a fun short story in the first few pages if you have a few minutes to read it!
So I'm not the biggest fan of rum (I know, blasphemy!) but there's definitely a good variety of cocktails to choose from. I had the Smoking Cannon on a friend's recommendation, and it was AMAZING. It was like a tiki twist an old fashioned - bourbon, rum, sherry, pineapple bitters, and topped with cinnamon smoke. I also fangirled a bit over their ice cubes - huge, perfect, clear, gorgeous cubes! Unfortunately they had another party coming in right after us, so we only got to stay for one drink, but I would definitely be back, and will probably make a reservation next time!
