| - After months of searching for a proper bed to go with our Cal King mattress, we decided on getting the Belcourt bed by Ashley. Having seen a Queen on the floor of the store, we really liked the overall look of the bed and were able to get a decent price. After the bed was delivered, we noticed that the rails didn't quite look right and we remembered that the rails on the side were flush with the box springs of the Queen we saw on the store floor. We went online to look at pictures to make sure we weren't loosing our minds, and sure enough, the model in the pictures looked exactly like the floor and nothing like the rails we received. We searched thoroughly before our purchase and even more-so afterwards. Apparently, the Cal King model uses the king headboard and foot-boards, then they just make the rails and place some wood on top to cover the gap (since a cal king mattress is 4 inches narrower than a king). The result is terrible in that a) these extra pieces stick out further than the wood at the corner of the foot-board and headboard and are an eyesore, and b) the entire mattress and box springs now rests on the three support slats going across which i personally do not feel is very stable. Also, beds I have previously owned were constructed so that the sides of the box springs rested on the immediate supports of the rails, which is not possible with the Cal King made by Ashley. Overall, I feel this was lazily designed and even more lazily constructed. A prime example of poor construction is that after the extra wood was placed on top of the rails, one side's was supported by triangular supports screwed into the rail, while the other side's extra piece was simply glued on (proving even the construction itself is very inconsistent). I know Cal Kings aren't common, and can be hard to shop for, but in my opinion don't state that a bed is available in that size, and then jerry-rig something different than what the customer is expecting and pass it off. At least offer some kind of disclosure that there will be differences or that the construction is based on the width of a king bed. I am actively an informed consumer and do thorough research before purchases, but in this case feel deceived. Also, our wonderful leather couch, looks different from the picture too, the area near the base/leg area is nice and low on their website pictures, but when we received it it was poor quality, when the couch was being picked up, it wobbled here and there, and the base got raise up so high my Roomba kept getting stuck underneath it, I can't believe there are bunch of LIES on Ashley advertisement, wise up everyone, don't let the picture/floor model fool you. Based on this I would not purchase any furniture manufactured by Ashley in the future.
