  • I wish I would have known about Yelp BEFORE I went to the show. My boyfriend and I went last night and I was so disappointed. Luckily, the tickets were free (a friend and his wife gave them to us), but I was already skeptical for two reasons: before we left our friend wanted a "review" but his tone of voice was unenthusiastic, AND I have my own personal opinions on Criss Angel. HOWEVER, I didn't want to go in with a bias. My boyfriend has never been to a Cirque du Soleil show, and I am a huge fan of Cirque, so I was kind of excited. In the end, the best part of the show was the little sidekick's smart mouth. There were NO Cirque elements at all, save a freaky oversized costume or two with no relevance. The magic was just okay. I felt like it was really just one long @$$ plug for his TV show and his store. I feel bad that Cirque has attached their reputable name to such a horrible act. I mean, I don't really know how you could incorporate magic with Cirque theatrics without taking away from the illusions themselves, but I guess that's what I get for banking on a name. The theater was full of screaming women who were more interested in getting into his pants than actually watching the show. Definitely glad the tickets were free, because I would have been incensed if I paid money for them. I still prefer David Blaine... Too bad HE doesn't have a show...
