| - Let me start by saying that the salon looks lovely. I imagine that there are a number of extremely talented people there.
However, I am now going to say that my experience with this salon was horrific, and the only thing I went in for was a hair consultation with Nina.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure she does a wonderful job on the small population of individuals she is able to service, I am only speaking about my experience.
I have NEVER felt as denigrated or looked down upon as when I went to have this consultation.
I went to discuss hair extensions with her, and it would have been enough for her to simply say I have only done one other person of color's hair, I don't carry the type of hair that you need and/or I don't feel as if I have the expertise to do your hair.
She instead stressed that her extensions are expensive (lady, I have plenty of money to get my hair done, price is not a factor) and that if she did my hair it would look like a mullet. Well, I agreed with her that I certainly did not want anyone to give me a mullet, but it seems to me that this would be a question of skills using various products.
Let me now say that my hair is medium length, not short, not long, just in the middle. She went on to say that once my hair grows another 6-7 inches, then perhaps she would be able to do whatever type of limited type of extensions she is able to offer (I believe the type she does are called 'Great Lengths'). Another 6-7 inches? Once that happens why would I need to see someone for extension services? I'm not trying to look like Rapunzel.
It's my understanding that she has been doing 'Great Lengths' for many years, it seems that a stylist that 'specializes' in doing extensions should be more than a one-trick pony, especially considering that there are more than 60 types of extension processes.
Not a good experience at all.
