  • So far, so good! I'm a sick person. Or rather, I take a lot of things so as not to get sick. Although I have good insurance, I always enroll in prescription co-pay assistance programs when available. The final straw that compelled me to find a new pharmacy was when the clerk at Walgreens told me that I would have to literally call them every single time I got certain things filled so they could run it again with the co-pay assistance applied. Yeah... no. Sick patients lives' are hard enough and I'm not about to make it more difficult if I can possibly avoid it. In my world of Walmarts and Walgreens, it occurred to me that perhaps I should try an independent pharmacy. Before switching to Valley of the Sun, I called and spoke with the pharmacist and asked what their process is for applying insurance and co-payment assistance. She said if it's in their system, they will automatically run both. True to her word, they ran it for both scripts and I ended up with zero copay for two rather expensive drugs. Is it as geographically convenient as the Walgreens I left? No. But, I'm willing to drive a little further for good customer service. I popped in last week to drop off new co-pay assistance documents for 2017. Based on previous pharmacy experiences, I just expected a "What? Huh? What do I do with this?" Nope. No problem whatsoever. (THAT WAS WONDERFUL.) I can't comment on their cash prices as I'm doing everything through insurance. If you are insured, your copays are going to be the same regardless of where you go - make the switch to pharmacy that treats you like a person.
