| - I have worked near the Canyon Cafe since it opened. I had been in once before for a quick happy hour with co-workers, and that was fine - they have a pretty good margarita happy hour deal.
This is the first time I had gone in for a meal. It was a Monday at noon, and the place was slammed. This isn't atypical for AZ Center restaurants when there is a conference in town. However, they had a table for 8 ready to go quickly, which was pleasantly surprising. Despite being slammed and dealing with a table of 8 going Dutch, the service was swift, accurate, and pleasant.
I had a combo fajita platter - steak and grilled veggies. It was $17, but felt like $30 worth of food. I can eat a lot. I had three enormous fajitas - each stuffed to the gills with steak, veggies, rice, beans, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, and tomato. I only ate about half or maybe two-thirds of this platter. It was impressive. It was also pretty tasty for this kind of more-casual Mexican eatery. Not mind blowing, but will do for large groups of co-workers or clients. As Yelp says, it's A-OK.
Even with 8 folks on separate checks, we were all seated, fed, and out of there in 45 minutes. I was delighted and impressed. Canyon Cafe will be on my list of potential client spots/business meals from now on.
