| - After having an iPhone 5 for almost a year without drops, scrapes, bumps- anything that would shatter my screen- I finally dropped my phone face down on concrete while walking the dog. I brought my phone in right away and a nice, yet frazzled, woman told me they'd be able to help me out, in between walk in customers and a ringing phone. I had to stand around for a while for a man who was purchasing something but finally I was got back to and told that I "...should probably consider a new case like an Otter box and a screen protector because they're great for preventing cracks." No thanks, my case has worked beautifully for 1.5 years. "Well, is your battery not holding a charge since the ios7 update? Because while we have the screen off, that will save you $30 to replace that. We recommend changing the batter every 6 months." WHAT?! Why buy a phone then? Anyway, she chatted, even after I had mentioned my sister who was visiting for the weekend, was standing outside waiting for me.
2 hours, $149 and I should be good to go. Ouch, but OK.
I came back and after waiting for another 10 minute stretch, was rushed through some sort of checklist. Super, phone works, hands it over. The screen seemed to have a sharp edge and the home button seemed more recessed than when I came in. I was told that no, that was normal, "Here, check it compared to the store's iPod touch." Um, not the same, but thanks. I was charged (after the first time coming in and being told to put down the deposit but was almost charged the whole $149 without me knowing until I needed to sign) and shooed out the door because there was another customer.
The next day- less than 24 hours later- I pull my phone from the pouch that it lives in within my bag and lo and behold there's a crack in the upper left corner. Seriously?! I've had a phone for almost 1.5 years without an issue and then 2 (expensive) issues in 2 days, one occurring immediately after their people dissected my phone? Something is NOT right.
I bring the phone in the next day to have a discussion about my concerns with the initial fix of my phone and the desire to have them replace the screen. I'm told that they warranty all work- except cracked screens because that's cosmetic, which I was told when I picked up the phone in a hurried way. Super, but what if it stems from faulty workmanship? "This crack comes from a stress related incident. Yeah, remember when I brought my phone in on Saturday because it had been dropped? That's a good start as to why the phone has a dent. "I can give you 15% off." Again, SERIOUSLY? "Your screen doesn't feel any different from mine. I can go get it and show you." Your people didn't do their work correctly and now I am paying for their errors. Not alright. After several minutes of debates, and no progress, I simply took my phone and walked out, letting them know that my friends will not be patronizing their store and a good review is out of the question.
Complete and utter scam which, sadly, I'm sure a lot of these types of places are. Customer service means nothing to them, and they don't care. Stay away.
