| - This review is strictly about the Garden Buffet. I checked out of Caesars Palace and was heading for the M Resort Spa & Casino and just on a whim, the people I was with decided to stop in and check out the food options.
Ok, I'm not a buffet fan to begin with unless it's the Bellefleur in Carlsbad, CA or likewise. We had been told it's a "locals" casino, I assume because it's a couple miles South of the main strip and near neighborhoods. We walked around a bit before deciding on the cheap quick Garden Buffet, not sure why... anyway...
Just from the way the story is going already you can tell it's not going to be good. If you're squeamish, I'm WARNING YOU, I suggest you stop reading right now, this is not a pretty story. If there was anything less than 1 star I would rate it that.
So the food is what you would expect it to be at any "locals" casino buffet tucked away in the corner - bland, dry, questionable at best. I would have to say the salad bar was the best option and even that was lacking. So we're at the end of our last plate about to get up and leave. We're sitting there discussing how disgustingly mediocre the food was and suddenly we hear what we think sounds like a pipe bursting. Ok, it was a pipe bursting off in the corner of the buffet seating area where, THANKFULLY, no one was seated at the moment. We see the staff rush over to check it out and being curious I get up and go around the corner to see what all the fuss is about and to find out what exactly the noise was. Squeamee'z, change the page now - it was a sewage pipe that burst! There was black sewage pouring down the walls and dripping down from the ceiling tiles like a bad horror movie. Obviously, we immediately decided we had enough and needed to go. As we're leaving we see other patrons still sitting around finishing their plates and eating as if nothing happened, I could see them starting to move their noses in that "what's that smell" type of way. If they didn't notice I wasn't going to stick around to tell them.
The worst part is, as if it could get any worse, was the counter were still taking peoples money and seating them as if there wasn't sewage pouring down the walls! This section where the pipe burst overhead was near the bus'ing area, opposite of where the kitchen and food was, nonetheless, why would you design sewage pipe to go over your restaurant area!?! Because we left in a hurry one of my party left their glasses on the table and I offered to run back and get them. At that time the stench was overwhelming and the maintenance people that were just showing up were in shock, all they could say was "oh my god." I really feel bad for whoever had to clean that mess up because it wasn't stopping.
All I can summarize this review with is, DO NOT EAT AT THE GARDEN BUFFET AT SOUTH POINT, EVER!
