| - This is my go to store--just one extra subway stop if I'm coming from work!
I liked this store when I first moved to East York about 3 years ago. Since then, the store has become much fancier/nicer. There is always a fancy cat supermarket at Woodbine (Sobeys) so I don't see how we need another one.
What I really do not like is that the prices seemed to have jumped with all of the renovations.
So, prices aside, this is a small, tidy store that has everything you need for nearly every meal. I feel like there were a few odd items they didn't carry but again, most of the ingredients, for most of my meals, came from this store. Again, you can't beat the location as it is right off of the subway station.
(Not the store's fault but there needs to be a source for alcohol nearby--as in within a short walk. Damn Ontario and its archaic nanny state booze laws! Let me buy a frickin' tin of beer to go with my dinner without having to make additional stops off the subway!!!)
Checkouts are generally fast, even during busy times. I've never had any problems with that. Cashiers are sometimes friendly, sometimes no the same as every grocery store in Toronto. Makes me miss LA where people are a lot more friendly a lot more often!
The only reason I don't shop here more often is because a No Frills opened behind my office.
Certainly not a store to go out of your way for but if this is your area, then this is probably your best choice for the staples.
