Coffee Buddha is truly a one of a kind spot. They are far more than just a coffee shop, they are a community hub. This is the spot to hit in West View if you want a place to hang out and commune with your fellows.
It's easy to get to and they have a large parking lot. Within the parking lot they host a food truck round up every month with a lot of different choices! (Pittsburgh Taco Truck got their start here and inspired the monthly event.)
All of their pastries and snacks are made by their in-house baker. Their syrups, extracts and shrubs (flavor shots- a term that was explained to me by the owner) are all made in-house also. In-house, as in, all the way from the ingredients being grown in the back yard. Their maple curry syrup is a house original and the resultant latte is a best seller.
Anything they can't do themselves they source from local purveyors. The coffee beans are from Commonplace, a Pittsburgh roaster, with a few roasts (the Malabar & the House Blend) made specifically for Coffee Buddha. The teas are sourced from Two Below in Millvale and are specific blends you can only find at Coffee Buddha. The cider is also from a local farm.
Over all it is an amazing local business that you should definitely go out of your way to support. They're doing it right and really trying to do the best they can for their community.
