I hadn't been here in a while. I managed to stop by on an early Friday evening and was happy to find the place quiet and not too crowded. As usual, the place has all the appearances of a pleasant cafe in which to work. However, there were a couple hiccups.
1) They haven't updated what appears to be a chalk menu in several months. I remember trying to order the iced lavender earl grey months ago and being told they no longer have it. Again, I was told the same thing (since I forgot I had tried to order it before). Instead, I ordered it hot. I was told it would come in a French press, but instead it was steeped in a teapot. (Which isn't a big deal. Just a bit strange).
2) The staff was friendly, but the two genteman seemed like they need a bit of extra training. They didn't seem to know how to make the coffee pour my friend requested; instead, they just said they didn't have it. And when he got a French press coffee instead, they didn't bring him the French press either. They brought it in a large mug. And unfortunately, the coffee was burnt.
3) We ordered a BLT sandwhich. It was premade and merely reheated. The quality was so-so. The grainy bread was a nice choice. But I recommend that a cafe of this appearance should at least prepare sandwhiches fresh.
Overall, the 3 stars is for ambiance and decor. It's not a bad place to work or hold a small meeting.
